NEONATAL DOCTORS ON ADVOCACY VISIT TO THE EMIR OF ARGUNGU

As part of the 13th annual meeting of the NIgerian Society of Neonatal Medicine, members paid an advocacy visit to the Emir of Argungu, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Samaila Mohammed Mera, the 33rd Sarkin Kebbi. Leading the delegates the summit host, Dr Zainab Bagudu thanked the Emir for his hard work and support on health issues in the state such as immunization. He is also currently spearheading mosque committees designed to improve access and accountability to health solutions.

The entire entourage were then treated to a mini fishing display by the river. Emir Samaila Mera is in his 21st year of ruling is a descendant of the famous legend and war general, Sarkin Kebbi, Muhammadu Kanta, who founded the Kebbi Empire. The empire had its first capital city at Surame in 1515. In 1722, Sarkin Kebbi Tomo, son of Ibrahim, moved the capital from Surame to Birnin Kebbi. HRH presented the visitors with books on the history of Argungu.
