PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Kebbi State Government has disbursed more than two hundred million naira to first batch of thirty communities for execution of community development projects. cheques ranging between six and nine million naira were disbursed to the beneficiaries at the end of their training programme in Birnin-Kebbi.
The communities have been empowered to execute projects directly on rehabilitation of schools, roads, construction of water supply and provision of healthcare services peculiar to the need of each benefitting community.At the ceremony, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu warned that the Government in conjunction with the House of Assembly would strictly monitor the communities to ensure that, the money was expended for the target objectives.
The Governor requested other interested communities to access the facility immediately.
The representatives of the National Coordinator, Federal Project Support Unit, Mr. Miyi Oduneye gave an assurance that the Federal Government would continue to support the implementation of community development projects nationwide by prompt payment of its counterpart fund.
He explained that the objective of the programme was poverty reduction and social protection.
The General Manager of Community Project Management Committee (CPMC’S) Kebbi State Yakubu Muhammad Yeldu said the benefiting communities contribute more than nine million naira counterpart fund in cash and in kind which qualified them to benefit from the community development financial support.
He said within the past two years the agency supported community in the execution of projects of more than two hundred and fifty-four million naira.
He expressed special thanks to Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for giving the necessary financial backing in carrying-out its activities.
The Deputy Governor Colonel Sama’ila Yombe Dabai, the Speaker State House of Assembly, Alhaji Sama’ila Abdulmumini Kamba, and the Emir of Gwandu Alhaji Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar also made symbolic presentation of cheques to beneficiary.
